Can’t believe another year has gone by! And what a year 2012 was – 3 shows cancelled due to the horrendous wet weather - unheard of in the club’s 37 year history. Lets hope we never have another year like it.
Because of this, the club ended 2012 losing quite a considerable amount of money. Hopefully 2013 will prove to be a successful season and we can recover some of these losses.
Therefore membership this year will be £12 for both juniors and seniors or £30 for a family of 3 at the same address – still excellent value for a whole year! We have also made some slight changes to some entry fees but overall prices remain very similar to last year.
As the August show is traditionally a quiet show due to the holiday season and it clashes with Equifest which means many of the showing competitors (and judges/helpers) will be there, we will be running just Showjumping, Clear Round and Gymkhana at our show.
At the AGM we were asked by some members whether we could hold more showing classes, so we will try running a limited number of classes alongside the dressage and see how this works. The showing will be in the gymkhana ring in the morning but will need to be finished in time to set up the ring for the gymkhana.
We are going to try running the points system for each showing class and each dressage class as we do for the showjumping and gymkhana. Hopefully this will give members more incentive to gain points in their classes rather than it being run on how many points you gain over all of the classes. It should also mean that the totaling up process is slightly easier for me to manage!
We have also slightly changed the entry system for the gymkhana – no entries will be taken after the first race has started. This is due to people turning up late and this causes problems as we don’t have enough helpers to man the entries and keep score too. Please make sure you arrive in plenty of time to enter before the start at approximately 1.30pm (or when the mini jumping has finished).
The extra show we put on in October was well received and we plan to do this again this year so make a note of the date – 6th October. It was great to be able to present the championship trophies to the winners and their horses and the classes gave people a chance to have a bit of fun and were great to watch – especially the dogs (and runners) jumping!
Looking forward to seeing you all.
